What’s behind it all?
IWM Automation GmbH from Porta Westfalica is a new exhibitor at my job-OWL and of course we’re always curious as to who we’ll be welcoming at our trade fair.
So, we contacted Katharina Reese, responsible for human resources at IWM. She made it easy for us right away … a very pleasant and friendly woman. We get into the conversation quickly and ask her, “What are the …”
Core competencies of the company
“IWM Automation is firmly rooted in East Westphalia and has more than 40 years of mature know-how,” says Reese. Based on this know-how, the company creates customized assembly and testing systems for its international customers from the automotive and automotive supplier industry. Made in Germany – with passion and team spirit.
The company is in a constant state of ongoing development. Campaigns like “IWM in Transformation” (rethinking and repositioning in the market) are shaping the new face of IWM.
We have already done some research on the company’s website: The merger with affiliate company Rohwedder Macro Assembly GmbH transformed IWM Automation GmbH into a company with more than 300 employees at three locations in Europe – and with more experts in the USA and China through the MAX Group. These changes are promoting the expansion of the international network and the optimization of professional expertise.
So further development is called for and we’d like to know,
What characterizes a modern employer today?
Further training offers for employees, flexible working hours and home office offers are important, emphasizes Reese. We’re on the same wavelength as the good woman here, because it’s flexibility in work processes that really enables employees to combine requirements and needs in private and family life with good performance in their employment relationships.
And what about transparency and opportunities for having a say in things?
Participation of employees in decision-making processes and open communication – all this on the basis of a pleasant working atmosphere makes working at IWM Automation so attractive, reports the HR manager. Performance-related remuneration and participation in the company’s success are also company plus points.
We’re already at the heart of the question of corporate culture when we talk about aspects like “open communication,” “participation in decision-making processes” and “flexibility.” Reese refers to concepts such as internationality and teamwork – and top-notch professionalism to enable the company to assert itself on the international market and maintain a positive identity in internal and external contact procedures alike. IWM stands for development work with passion in order to create innovations in the field of technology. A person of conviction. We understand.
Looking for specialists and trainees?
Is there a need? Absolutely! “We’re looking for motivated employees, from experienced engineers to young trainees. Our list includes engineers for design, sales, project planning, project management, PLC programmers, electronics engineers, industrial mechanics and electronics trainees for automation technology,” answers Katharina Reese.
So, it’s off to my job-OWL, meet all the applicants and definitely visit Booth F19!
What do your employees like about working here?
Katharina Reese talks about the flat hierarchies, the candor of colleagues and also superiors, all of which create a collegial atmosphere. The resulting good working atmosphere is also reflected in the general good mood, lively participation in external activities like summer & Xmas parties and the company run. And, she continues, what’s positive from the employees’ point of view are also the opportunities for professional development and the precisely tailored training offers, which are coordinated with the employees and match the company’s development and future tasks.
What do you like about your employees?
The HR manager doesn’t have to think long. “Our employees are highly motivated and willing to perform. The will to make a difference is strong and since we have many creative minds in our ranks, we go ONWARDS!
Company goals for the future
IWM Automation aims to achieve even greater customer orientation by expanding its existing customer teams and providing targeted training. Unique selling points are to be promoted and defined more clearly to assert the company’s position on the market. One main focus is therefore placed on inspiring innovations in products, processes and ways of thinking – in other words, in the entire company business process.
The focus is on international action and the “WE” – and the merger with the affiliate company makes a decisive contribution to this.
Digitalization in your own work processes
“We create SmartFactory high-tech production facilities for our customers,” explains Katharina Reese. “Robotics, sensor technology and handling linked to the latest control systems are our specific know-how for factory automation – for the benefit of our customers.
Is there anything else we’ve perhaps omitted?
“The merger with our sister company gives us a strategically important new location in Bermatingen on Lake Constance – and that’s close to Austria and Switzerland. And thanks to our Polish location in Katowice, we can expand our growth and prospects in Eastern Europe,” says our interviewee.
The existing partnership in China with a company in the special machine construction sector will also be expanded. We’ll also be analyzing the North American market and intensifying the networking there.
Efficient and modern project management will drive the expansion of IWM Automation GmbH and its orientation towards the international sector onwards.
During this interview, we’ve learned a lot about our new exhibitor, interesting facts about its corporate culture, production and internationalization – and we’ve also realized that We. Onwards! Inspiring. is IWM Automation – a company at the cutting edge.
